Short stories
July 19, 2009These are non-fictional real stories where i play the central character;)
He got up from his bed and at once realised that this happened to be his first day at law college. Life came a full circle at this point of time. He was experiencing the joy of joining a graduate course twice. He was one of those lucky souls to have “been there and done that” at least he felt that way. Rahul joined the law course after a failed stint in engineering. The thought of sustaining in a new environment gave him stomach cramps coupled with a lot of sweat. It was August 2005, 9th August to be precise. The idea of giving up what he learnt in engineering was making him scrutinize his decision or better his parents decision to move to law.
Now, the time had come for him to remove those unpleasant thoughts and just concentrate to establish himself in a new institution. The feeling for him was more like getting out of a troubled relationship. But people often stay single after that. But, for me it was like getting in to another.
He regretted this idea to the core, but some part of his brain was pretty relaxed and excited too to do what he always wanted to do. The idea of doing something which is also called as a noble profession was something he was gung-ho and all kicked about. To meet new people, to make new friends, to study something new atleast made him to get all dressed up, clutching the bag and umbrella in one hand he made his way out.
To dress up was quite a task for him perhaps taming his plus six foot frame to obey his whims was one. The paunch was quite showing up but the “I don’t care what the world feels attitude” took care of that 19 yr old’s mind.
I just met him the other day but at 23 and 4 years into law of the grueling 5 years course he told me “ Pondering over the years I feel the days which I spent in engineering were the most memorable”. I was puzzled by this remark, but upon further enquiry even I bet my 2 cents that he was quite happy in engineering. He was happy who, wouldn’t be? he had everything what a law student wanted:- a good place for interning, a name he can count on, everything to hatch a prospective successful law career. Then I wondered, what was missing?
Digs at Rahul’s Alma Mater
The Name’s something people often tend to react or get fixed and pat comes the reply, “Where, Who….? That was the name of his college. You would’ve figured that when people ask where, the place was not very popular or perhaps not at all popular. But in this case, it was not a worst case scenario for him because the location was very popular. So that relaxed him a bit. He made it a habit that whenever people used to ask him about his college he not just used to tell the name but also the location. Usually colleges occupy a full building but my institution was special. It shared Floor space with a pre-primary school, a B.Ed Diploma school and a management B-school. The place was sandwiched between two other colleges arranged vertically. The method was cost effective because it saved drainage pipes, building extra toilets, recreational space and share and share alike was the motto. The infrastructure was shared peacefully with each other including the notice boards. The staff I bet had a ball everyday meeting people from other colleges. The people who reaped the most were the students who indulged in Student Exchange programs everyday without much hassle to travel to other places. Flirting with girls from other colleges was not a big Herculean task all you needed was some wit and some strength to climb floors. Canteen was the main hunting ground for guys since that too was shared. The founder of his college surely has conceived a masterpiece was what he thought when he was entering the lobby. He asked for directions and pat came the reply from the college liftman:
1st Floor Kindergarten School & Canteen
2nd Floor Primary School
3rd Floor Secondary School
4th Floor Education Diploma College
5th Floor Law College & Library & Research room & Staff Room
6th Management College
At least they don’t operate from a residential apartment. “Now that’s called Unity in Diversity” he exclaimed. I was made to be here. My Second Home. Wow. Library, RR,SR and classrooms all on the same floor. Double WOW. All these thoughts crossed his mind as he made his way to the law floor through the sole operating lift shared by all colleges.
11.15 am 9th August
He was on time. This was his first day. With a lot of effort he entered the classroom which was big enough to accommodate 25 cows. He Perched on 4th bench even though the other benches were empty. Since his engineering days he was that shy, introvert guy who would not trouble others and getting in to a tiff with someone was a quality he never had or perhaps had donated that to someone while leaving school.

July 24, 2008so today morning it rained after quite a lot of time.I had this intresting bus ride today which i can never forget.nothing unusual but it was really a ride to remember. The double decker bus can hardly take my height and everything went well till i was hit by a rod..while alighting. the impact was so strong that my headache was cured in an instant. I was lucky.I was lucky in the sense to be tall…but when i dont have a headache then what will i do…well i will simple hire a cab or a rick.,…am different..maybe my thought is different and that made the differnce today…come on now dont check out the ‘difference’ typo..but just make sure..that you do something about that nagging headache otherwise just bang your head to something hard and you will be cured immediately..i bet!!

day 2 after registering on wordpress
July 20, 2008well the day 2 was a sunday. yes a sunday makes me feel much better and gives me an option to rejuvenate my energy and gives me that much needed power to tackle those blues. another thing i want to discuss in here is that the .tkdomain name serves its purpose to the fullest and provides me with a free domain name which i have been yearning for all these years. Now i can host my own website without shelling a penny. This domain name made me realise that there are still some things in life which are and can be free.I also made some alterations to the script of my webhost cjb.net and to some extent i have managed to blcok those awful advts.Looking forward to experiment now to the fullest if the time permits.Webdesigning destresses me and thus makes me to be at peace with myself.
the wordpress experience
July 19, 2008well folks,]
firstly i dont expect many people to read this comment however if you find or lose your way in here..you surely must’ve been to my other proper websites viz www.rahulbhasme.tk and www.tlegal.tk
Blogging appeared to me as an after thought and i dont know whether i will be able to sustain this. I had many blogging sites to choose from but lets hope that i took a right and wise decision to choose wordpress. the interface is simple and then theres not much to do when it comes to making the first step. sorry for this boring description but i really am very much tired with my work and am writing this in the midst of all this.
